Old Fort: You can visit the Old Fort, one of the most visited tourism destination on your New Delhi tour. The fort is located on a small hill, which once stood on the banks of the river Yamuna. Legend has it that the fort marked the site of Indraprastha, the magnificent capital of the Pandavas, though Sher Shah Suri carried out the construction sometime between 1538 to 1545 AD. The structure houses a mosque, which has a double storied octagonal tower. It is said that the Mughal king Humayun fell from the tower and died. Chandni Chowk: The popular bazaars of Chandni Chowk form a part of tourism destinations in New Delhi. Lodi Gardens: Lodi Gardens are situated at Lodi Road, 5 Km south of Connaught place, 1 Km to the south of the Old Fort. It is set in the heart of one of the best residential districts of New Delhi. The garden is now modified as a Park. The garden contains the mellow stone tombs of the Lodi ruler of the 15th and 16th century. In the middle of the garden facing the East entrance from Max Muller Road is Bara Gumbad, the mosque built in 1494. A few meter north of the Bara Gumbad is the Sheesh Gumbad built on a raised incline with glazed blue tiles, painted floral designs and Koranic inscriptions, a typical Lodi architecture.
